Mountain State University believes in the value of lifelong learning and the power of knowledge to transform lives. We respond to educational needs by providing accessible, innovative undergraduate and graduate programs that lead to opportunities for personal and professional success.

Institutional Research (I.R.) collects, analyzes and shares information to promote student learning and to ensure institutional effectiveness. An integral part of this mission is to anticipate and communicate emerging information affecting learning outcomes. In addition to reporting, the I.R. engages in data analysis about students, faculty, staff, curriculum, course offerings and learning outcomes. The office is the source of much of the information needed to provide regional and national accreditation bodies to document how we fulfill standards of accreditation. The Institutional Research also supports the information needs and requirements of several internal and external constituents. To perform these functions, I.R. uses data across several systems—financial, student, human resources and financial aid. This office is dedicated to meeting the strategic planning needs of all campuses for Mountain State University. Specific activities of the I.R. include the following.

  • Research design, data collection, analysis, and reporting of findings, to support assessment of both academic and non-academic areas of the university
  • Coordination of the Universities' strategic and operational planning processes
  • Compliance with reporting requirements of the U.S. Department of Education, other governmental agencies, accrediting bodies and professional association.
  • Conducting University-wide surveys and administration of the faculty evaluation process
  • Responding to surveys and requests of other data from external group
