    Environmental Sustainability

What can I study in environmental sustainability at MSU?

Environmental sustainability emphasizes long-term stewardship of natural resources. This biology-based program integrates well with a traditional science curriculum and places a focus on today's renewed environmental consciousness.

Program focus is placed upon the promotion of efficient and equitable uses of resources and a broad study of natural and anthropogenic environmental disturbances within a context of restoration and conservation. Coursework in environmental sustainability creates a foundation for understanding issues related to responsible use and replenishment of the earth's natural resources. Well trained professionals in environmental science and sustainable resource management are created through study of MSU's curriculum of:

    • environmental science and ecology
    • chemistry
    • statistics, calculus, and physics
    • soil science
    • water resource management
    • sustainable resource management practice
    • economics of resource management
    • historical, philosophical, and ethical aspects of resource management
