    Environmental Sustainability

"Going Green" is not just a slogan anymore. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the amount of resources that will be needed to supply the projected population in the year 2050 will double those of today. Consequently, opportunities are being created for businesses to adopt sustainability of resources and the planet. Therefore, companies are going to need employees who can lead them in the race to sustain both their products and the planet.

Learn how to responsibly use, renew, reconstruct, and protect our natural resources through Mountain State University's Bachelor of Science in environmental sustainability. This program prepares you for growing job opportunities relating to conservation and responsible development of natural resources. Courses of study are offered in a classroom format on the Beckley campus. Some courses can be completed through independent study or other options.

What career opportunities can I expect in environmental sustainability?

As a career focus, environmental sustainability is personally rewarding. Mountain State University's Bachelor of Science in environmental sustainability will prepare individuals for professional positions that involve research, development, and implementation of innovative sustainable and green-technologies as well as academic positions. Job opportunities are located in both the government and private sectors.

The world population was at 6 billion in 1999 and twelve years later, we are at 7 billion (USA TODAY). At our current growth pace, sustainability will be a growing career for a long time to come. Corporations are placing high demand on finding professionals to guide them through their social responsibility to the environment.
