Forensic Investigation
Forensics investigation is a direct response to the increased role science plays in the courtroom. The study of crime scene and forensic investigation includes two key components: 1) recognizing, collecting, identifying, examining, documenting, and preserving the physical evidence of a crime scene, and 2) using the principles of the natural sciences to explain and interpret such evidence in legal proceedings.
This fast-growing field has captured our imagination. Its growth is being spurred by new technologies, increased use by law enforcement, jury expectations, and new legal requirements. If you are all about science and digging for the truth, then you may find that a career in forensic investigation is the perfect fit.
Mountain State University's Bachelor of Science in forensic investigation presents a challenging format that requires attention to detail, the ability to think both analytically and creatively, and the flexibility to combine new technology with traditional investigative methods. Study is offered on the University's Beckley campus.
