Business Studies

Mountain State University's B.S. in business studies is an individualized degree completion program designed for working adults interested in pursuing a career in business. The program is structured so you can document and apply prior learning to your degree program—and because it allows you to tailor your studies to fit your personal experience, interests, and goals, you have the flexibility to span two or more areas of study, or to focus on a specialty within an established discipline.

The program is built around a core of foundational coursework in accounting, economics, finance, business law, management, and marketing. These courses provide a solid introduction to key elements of business that are useful to professionals in virtually any role and setting.

The business studies program is offered exclusively at the Beckley and Martinsburg campuses. Many of the required courses, however, can be completed online or through other forms of distance learning.

What is unique about the business studies program?

The business studies program features a career component that allows you to tailor your remaining degree requirements to your needs. If you have relevant professional training or workplace experience, you can document it through MSU's prior learning assessment and apply it toward your degree.

An optional practicum allows you to gain new experience and current references along with college credits—especially valuable if you've been out of the workplace for a significant amount of time.
