Psychology
Mountain State University's Master of Arts in psychology is a two-year program of study designed for professional versatility. Graduates may teach psychology at the community college level, or they can choose to pursue a career in mental health, human services, or business. They also are prepared to enter a doctoral degree program in psychology.
A post-bachelor's certificate in psychology is also available for those who wish to pursue an advanced knowledge of psychology without the long-term commitment of a degree program.
Why choose MSU for graduate studies in psychology?
The Mountain State University psychology program is one of transformative learning, intellectual diversity, and the exploration of essential questions. Our faculty values the development of the whole person and the fostering of individual creative expression.
While we offer a foundation in psychology as recommended by the American Psychological Association, MSU makes every effort to afford students research opportunities in areas of psychology not found in the typical program.
When and where can I complete my studies?
The master's degree in psychology can be completed either in a classroom setting on the Beckley campus or online. Campus-based courses are scheduled to meet on weekends and at other convenient times.
