    Health Studies

Mountain State University's bachelor's degree in health studies is designed
for students who wish to prepare for advanced professional and educational options in a health care field.

    Why MSU for Health Studies?

An individualized curriculum allows you to tailor your degree program to your interests and goals.

The program is built around a core curriculum of coursework in health care administration, health care reimbursement, and business management. These courses provide a solid introduction to key elements that are useful across the health care industry.

A career component allows you to tailor your remaining degree requirements to your needs. If you have relevant learning associated with professional training or workplace experiences, you can document it through MSU's prior learning assessment and apply it toward your degree. An optional practicum experience
allows you to gain new experience and current references along with college credits—especially valuable if you've been out of the workplace for a significant amount of time.

The health studies program is offered only on MSU's campus in Beckley, W.Va. Many of the required courses, however, can be completed online or through other forms of distance learning.

    Career Opportunities

Health care organizations such as hospitals, clinics, ambulatory care services, nursing homes, hospice care, and health insurance companies may seek graduates with a degree in health studies. Students who are considering graduate education in public health, health administration, dental, veterinary, or other health-oriented fields will benefit from the bachelor's in health studies program.
