The program is built around a core curriculum of coursework in health care administration, health care reimbursement, and business management. These courses provide a solid introduction to key elements that are useful across the health care industry.

A career component allows you to tailor your remaining degree requirements to your needs. If you have relevant learning associated with professional training or workplace experiences, you can document it through MSU's prior learning assessment and apply it toward your degree. An optional practicum experience
allows you to gain new experience and current references along with college credits—especially valuable if you've been out of the workplace for a significant amount of time.

The health studies program is offered only on MSU's campus in Beckley, W.Va. Many of the required courses, however, can be completed online or through other forms of distance learning.
