Alumni honored at 2006 Hall of Fame Awards

he MSU Alumni Association inducted three alumni and one honorary alumna into its Alumni Hall of Fame during an awards banquet held September 23, 2006, in the John W. Eye Conference Center.

Michael Ann Dulcie, MSU director of alumni relations, said, “The event was a way for the alumni association to honor those who have contributed so much to the school. We feel these individuals personify the University’s mission and we congratulate them for their personal and professional success.”

Each inductee spoke fondly of Dr. Charles Polk, MSU president, “Dr. Polk and his faculty have done an outstanding job at this school,” Nuckols said. “MSU has been a blessing for the entire community.”

The Alumni Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony is an annual event. Nominations for alumni awards are accepted throughout the year and recipients are chosen by the Alumni Advisory Council.

Lillian J. Melton, Don E. Nuckols ’58, and Tex M. Williams ’59.

The Career Achievement Award recognizes those alumni who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and prominence in their careers.

The Distinguished Service Award honors those alumni whose contributions to and efforts on behalf of Mountain State University are worthy of special recognition.

The Community Service Award is presented to alumni who have made exceptional contributions to society through volunteer civic or other public service to their communities.

The Amanda Marcella Adkins Spirit Award is named after Amanda Marcella Adkins, Class of 1985, founding member of the MSU Alumni Association. This award honors alumni of MSU who demonstrate pride in MSU and have demonstrated extraordinary loyalty, commitment, and service to the MSU Alumni Association for the betterment of the university.

The Distinguished Friend Award honors friends of the University who are not alumni, yet have given unusual and unselfish service to the University by giving of their time, talents, and resources.
