Theresia Adams Gwinn ’84
Theresia Adams Gwinn ’84 is the recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award for her dedication to professional excellence and notable career achievements. Long hours, difficult deadlines, late nights and weekends at the office—Theresia Gwinn is no stranger to the demands and challenges that encompass the business world today. This consummate business professional serves in a number of roles—dedicated employee, controller, negotiator and counselor, to name just a few.
Terri graduated from Pineville High School in Pineville, West Virginia. She graduated from Beckley College with an Associate of Science in Business Administration in 1984. She then earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Concord College. After obtaining her CPA certificate, she has maintained a successful and rewarding career in the coal industry. With beginnings at Consolidation Coal and Slab Fork Coal, Terri then invested eighteen years with Wind River Consulting, LC, local Beckley coal conglomerate, where she operated in a senior management capacity. She is currently the vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Superior Highwall Miners, LP, a leader in the global coal industry.
Terri attributes many of her career opportunities to the educational foundation she received at Beckley College. After completing her education, Terri returned to Beckley College as an adjunct instructor of business courses.
Terri is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the West Virginia Society of Accountants, and the Institute of Mangerial Accountants. Not only is Terri accomplished in her career, but also in the riding ring. She’s an avid horse enthusiast with many blue ribbons for showing Tennessee Walking Horses. Terri resides on a small farm in Mount Hope, WV. She enjoys spending time with her husband, L.L., secretary-treasurer of Vecellio & Grogan, Inc. and a graduate of Beckley College, Concord College, and WV Graduate School, and her two daughters, Kimberly, Pharm-D and consultant for Aventis Pharmaceuticals Corp., and Taylor, ten-year-old student at Bradley Elementary School.
