Gift Scholarships

ATTENTION HEALTH SCIENCE MAJORS!
Apply now for gift scholarships! A special health science scholarship opportunity is available for the Fall term! Application deadline has been extended through May 15th for health science students. Apply online at (see No. 4 below) or email avest@mountainstate.edu for more information.

Gift scholarships are funded by generous donors who have a desire to assist MSU students in their educational pursuits. Gift scholarships do not have to be paid back and are applied to your student account through the Financial Aid Office.

To qualify for any MSU gift scholarship, you must meet four basic requirements:

1. You must be registered full time for the semester in which you are applying for the scholarship. (Full time is defined as 12 hours for undergraduate students and 6 hours for graduate students.)

2. You must have completed your FAFSA and had an online interview with the Virtual Financial Aid office, and have a current EFC number. Contact MSU’s Financial Aid Office at faid@mountainstate.edu or visit https://mountainstate.vfao.com/ for more information on completing these steps.

3. You must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA from previous college credits. If you are an incoming freshman, this will instead be based on your high school GPA. You must provide evidence of your GPA by providing a copy of your transcripts to the MSU Admissions office. The Office of University Advancement may also request a copy of your transcripts for verification.

4. You must complete the gift scholarship application. Applications may be submitted online or by e-mail, postal mail, or hand delivery. If you wish to apply for multiple scholarships, please put "Any that Apply" or list the specific scholarships you are interested in on the line that asks which scholarship you are applying for. It is not necessary to submit multiple applications.

In addition to the requirements listed above, there may be specific criteria for individual scholarships—for example, the donor may specify that the scholarship be awarded only to students who are enrolled in a particular program or who live in a specific county or state.
