2012 Volleyball Camp coming in July 2012

Campers will be offered a variety of activities to help develop/improve their volleyball skills. Techniques for conditioning, passing, setting, attacking, blocking, and serving will be presented and practiced.

Bolen Breaks Record

Mountain State basketball coach Bob Bolen celebrates becoming West Virginia all-time winningest college basketball coach after the Cougars defeated Talladega 84-67 Thursday night at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.

MSU whips D-I Morehead State

David Nyarsuk scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as NAIA No. 2 Mountain State beat Division I Morehead State 84-69 Thursday night in an exhibition game at Johnson Arena. It was the Cougars’ first win over a Division I opponent in school history. Morehead knocked out Louisville in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last March. Click here for more


Mountain State coach bags a top shelf recruit.

If this works out as expected, Mountain State University coach Bob Bolen may end up looking for more bargains at Walmart.
Bolen got a tip from Beckley-area AAU coach Mike Fowlkes that there was an outstanding basketball player, Isaiah Hill, working at a Walmart in the Richmond area. Hill was a 6-foot-8 standout at Hagerstown Community College and had averaged a double-double for his career.. click here for more


MSU soccer programs prepare for campaigns
Similarities abound between the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Mountain State University heading into this season’s fall campaigns.

Men’s coach Steve Laraba and women’s coach Stephanie Kot, both Marshall University graduates, enter as first-year Cougars coaches with limited roster sizes, and while both said they anticipate 2011 to be a rebuilding year, they also expect success. click here for more


Bob Bolen, one of the Top 25 Non-Division I Head Coaches

Bolen took over at Mountain State in 1993, assigned to bring the basketball program there back after it had been terminated in 1977. He won the NAIA National Championship in 2004 and has been runner up in 2003, 2008, and 2011. Over the last ten seasons he has a record of 308-42 (.880), the best of any college coach in the country. He was 2004 NAIA Coach of the Year and 2010 NABC Coach of the Year. click here for more
