The Honor Society of Nursing welcomes new members, whether they are students at Mountain State University or community practitioners. Membership is open to all who meet the established. ..Criteria. The Honor Society has been established as a preliminary step in meeting the requirements needed to be chartered as a Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Purposes of the Honor Society include:
Recognition of scholarship of superior quality
Recognition of development of leadership qualities
Fostering high professional standards
Strengthening commitment on the part of the individuals to ideals and purposes of the profession of nursing
Encouragement of creative work.
CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP
Undergraduate Student includes all MSU nursing programs
Completion of at least the first semester of the junior year nursing program at Mountain State University.
A cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Rank in the upper 35% of the respective class
Completed membership application
Acceptance by the eligibility committee
Graduate Student
Completion of one-fourth of the required graduate curriculum (9 semester hours)
Cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
Completed membership application
Acceptance by the eligibility committee
Community Members
At least a baccalaureate degree in nursing
Demonstrated marked achievement in education, practice, research, administration or publication
