Testing and Tutoring

Testing Center

Students can receive credit for successfully completing examinations developed by the University Level Examination Program (CLEP), Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Educational Support (DANTES Standardized Subject Tests), and our own Challenge/Power Testing Program. The University has adopted American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations for acceptable scores for many of its examination programs. Available examination programs include:

  • Advanced Placement Program (AP)
  • University Level Examination Program (CLEP)
  • Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Educational Support (DSST)
  • Certified Professional Secretary Examination (CPS)
  • Mountain State University Challenge/Power Examination Program

Tutoring

The tutoring program provides academic support to students. It helps students learn to help themselves through active learning and increased confidence in their own abilities. Students who work as tutors develop skills that are beneficial not only in their own classes, but also in the workplace and other areas of life.

Tutoring is offered at no charge to currently enrolled students. Stop by the Learning Resource Center, Section D to schedule an appointment.

The program is always looking for prospective tutors. If you are eligible for work-study and have an excellent GPA, contact Student Academic Services to learn about becoming a tutor.
