Federal Work Study (FWS)
Federal Work Study (FWS) provides many Mountain State University departments on campus with funds to hire student workers with financial need. The FWS program offers job opportunities for eligible students who wish to earn part of their educational expenses. The salary for FWS usually starts at minimum wage, and students are paid by the hour.
The student must first complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and indicate their desire for work study. .
Eligibility
To be eligible for FWS at Mountain State University, all applicants:
- Must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and complete the Virtual Financial Aid Office online interview.
- Must qualify for aid based on a needs analysis.
- Must maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by campus policy.
- Must be registered for a minimum of six (6) credit hours.
Earnings
The maximum number of hours is determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Federal Work Study funds are paid directly to the student. Funds are not credited to the student's account.
