Electronic Database Instructions

The best way to learn how to use online databases is by actually going in and using them. Contact Sue Phillips, the Academic Resource Librarian, at suephil@mountainstate.edu for the required usernames and passwords.

Science Direct

Science Direct provides online access to a specific group of electronic journals to which we subscribe in print.

Step 1: Click on the Science Direct link.

Step 2: Enter your topic in the Quick Search “All Fields” box.

• Limit your search by filling out the Author, Journal/Book Title, Volume, Issue and Page Boxes.

Step 3: Limit the results by:

• clicking on the box next to the preferred journal title.
• clicking on the box next to the preferred year.
• clicking on "Limit To" or "Exclude" button at the bottom of the column.

Step 4: Click on "Go."

NOTE: Full Text articles are marked by a green box beside the citation.

Step 5: Click on PDF under the citation to view the article.

Step 6: The print and e-mail buttons are included in the text.
