Research Involving Human Subjects
GRADUATE CATALOG INDEX

The University’s Institutional Review Board, or IRB, must approve in advance any
project or study that involves human subjects. Changing standards in human subject research have greatly expanded the types of research requiring IRB review.

You should contact the chair of the IRB if there is any question as to whether your research project may be subject to review. You can also check with your advisor or program administrator about the possible need for IRB review. A list of current IRB members is included in the Trustees, Graduate Faculty, and Staff section.
