The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, or FERPA, protects the privacy of student records. The act governs the release of educational records and your right to view your educational records and request correction of any inaccuracy. It also covers the release of such directory information as your name, address, and telephone number, as well as the procedure for requesting that access to such information be limited.
