Historical and philosophical perspectives on the development of health education, including major concepts, theories, and characteristics of health education programs. ISP.

290 Comprehensive Health Assessment (3)
Prereq: 210. A thorough study of aspects of health assessment used by health educators and health and human service professionals. Includes physical, behavioral, and social assessments as well as needs assessments. ISP.

350 Community Health (3)
Prereq: 210. Introduction to community and public health at the local, state, and national levels. Emphasizes community health problems, institutions, and resources. ISP.

396 Planning, Implementing, and Evaluating Interventions in Health Education (3)
Prereq: 210. Introduces the basic principles of developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs in health education and health promotion. Provides basic knowledge and skills associated with program design, management, and evaluation.

452 Strategies in Health Education (3)
Prereq: 210. Examines educational process, methods, strategies, and techniques in health education, with an emphasis on communication techniques and current resources.

456 Fieldwork in Health Education/ Health Promotion (6)
Prereq: 290. Supervised practicum in a community setting that relates to health education or health promotion.
