301 Focus and Design (3)
Prereq: ENGL 102 or perm. Liberal studies program gateway course. Introduces degree requirements and provides assistance in defining competencies needed for career goals, developing a progression of courses to achieve those goals, and exploring the concept and merit of liberal studies. Typically taken during the sophomore year. F; ISP, ISW.

450 Capstone Seminar (3)
Prereq: 301, 303 or sr, perm of program director. Offers a lens through which to view perspectives on education, careers, and the global community. Sp; ISP, ISW.

461 Practicum (1–12, max 12)
Prereq: 301; perm of practicum center director; advance practicum agreement approved by site representative, program representative, and dean. Provides 1 hour of credit in exchange for each 40 hours of credible voluntary service with an appropriate organization and completion of all assignments connected with such work. Counts toward liberal studies senior-level coursework requirement. All.

466 Senior Project (3–12)
Prereq: 301, 303, perm of practicum center director and dean. Completion of a thesis or problem-based project that incorporates several critical research functions—planning, bibliographical research, research design, data collection and analysis, and conclusions. Requires advance development of a proposal that identifies a topic and mentor; completed thesis or project is submitted to the mentor and program director for final review. The thesis or project may be developed in an alternative or electronic medium with the approval of the practicum center director and dean. Counts toward liberal studies senior-level coursework requirement. All.

480–489 Special Topics in Liberal Studies (3)
Prereq: 301, perm of faculty mentor. Study of special interest topics. All.
