Other certificates and ratings are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Contact the aviation program office for details.

480 Human Factors in Flight (3)
A comprehensive look at human factors in aviation, including the meaning of human factors; human error; fatigue, body rhythms, and sleep; fitness and performance; vision and visual illusions; motivation and leadership; communication; attitudes and persuasion; training and training devices; education and application. ISP.

481 Aviation Psychology (3)
The contributions of aviation psychology to the development of practical solutions to current and future challenges in aviation. Takes a forward-looking approach to the application of psychology and human factors to the safe and effective functioning of aviation organizations and systems. ISP.

482 Aviation Marketing and Management (3)
Examination of the principles of marketing applied to today’s airline industry. Includes application of marketing principles to maximize airline success, significant strategic challenges facing aviation, airline jargon, product analysis and pricing, and revenue management. ISP.

483 Air Transportation (3)
A comprehensive review of the history and role of air transportation. Topics include the historical and present status of air transportation, the regulation of the aviation industry, air transportation administration, and airline and general aviation aircraft. ISP.

484 Flight Crew Leadership (3)
Provides practical guidance on aircraft command techniques during both routine and unexpected situations. Includes the role of the captain, characteristics of effective leaders, developing judgment and decision skills, managing resources, communication, and emergency situations. ISP.

485 Aviation Economics (3)
Deals with middle and upper management in the volatile airline industry. Topics include output, unit cost, traffic, and yield, as well as the effect of these subjects on operating expenses and revenues and the corresponding relationships that drive profit and loss.

486 Aviation Marketing and Management II (3)
Prereq: perm. Covers the electronic resources available for the management of a corporate flight department and the skills required to operate these resources effectively. A four-month subscription to the online aviation program JetNet and data from other electronic sources and websites are used in place of a traditional textbook. A working knowledge of computers, Internet access, and Microsoft Word and Excel programs are required.

487 Aviation Security (3)
Presents basic information on security issues and concerns in the aviation industry. Includes a review of the historical aspects of aviation security, fundamental knowledge and practices required for day-to-day operation as an aviation professional, and information on the latest electronic tools and resources that help aviation security professionals establish and maintain a safe operating environment. ISP.

488 Aviation Stories: Aviation and the Humanities (3)
Fosters understanding of how the business of flying and flying for pleasure have come to be incorporated into our arts, especially literature, since the early days of flight. Includes readings from journals, memoirs, fiction, and nonfiction that deal with the human side of flying airplanes.

489 Flight Safety (3)
Provides a basic knowledge of accident prevention; fosters development of an attitude and philosophy for accident deterrence and flight safety. Includes ideal, practical, personal, and organizational safety procedures and goals; safety philosophies; aircraft accident reports; human factors; principles of accident investigation; accident prevention programs and accident statistics; study of current events; and NTSB special studies.
