HEALTH SCIENCES PREPROFESSIONAL YEAR
Patsy H. Haslam School of Health Sciences

This preprofessional academic year is designed for prospective health sciences students who would benefit from a year of academic preparation. Even if you were not admitted initially, you can receive priority admission into the health  sciences program of your choice (except for the undergraduate component of the physician assistant program) after completing the health sciences preprofessional year at MSU with a GPA of 3.0 or better.

The two-semester schedule listed here meets key general education and health science requirements. A lab science elective can be filled in chemistry, physics, or another area that meets specific program prerequisites, and an additional elective can be used for a preprofessional introductory course. In many cases it is possible to enroll in the preprofessional year and still graduate on time.

Additional study during summer sessions may be required to meet all prerequisites for the program of your choice. It is important that you work closely with an academic advisor in your chosen program from the beginning of your studies to ensure that your preprofessional year meets all requirements of the program you wish to enter
