NURSING (B.S.N.)
School of Extended and Distance Education
|
 |
In addition to the traditional B.S.N. program offered on the Beckley campus through the School of Health Sciences, the School of Extended and Distance Education provides three pathways for people with various educational backgrounds who wish to complete a B.S.N. To qualify for any of these pathways, which are designed to fit studies around full-time employment, you must first successfully fulfill all general education and supporting coursework required by the nursing program and meet all program admissions criteria. You must also adhere to the same program requirements as a traditional nursing student. For more complete information on these pathways, see the main program listing under Nursing in the School of Health Sciences section.
LPN-to-B.S.N. Pathway
Licensed Practical Nurses may qualify for advanced placement credit and be able to complete upper-division nursing courses with a sequence of evening and weekend classroom study and clinical experiences under the direction of a clinical preceptor approved by the nursing program.
RN-to-B.S.N. Pathway
RNs who wish to earn a B.S.N. may qualify for advanced placement credit and be able to complete upper-division nursing courses through Individualized Study. Clinical courses can often be completed at the student’s
place of employment or another convenient location.
B.A./B.S.-to-B.S.N. Pathway
Designed for people wishing to make a career change, this pathway allows those who already have a B.A. or B.S. to complete their upper-division nursing courses in a sequence after successfully fulfilling general education coursing and nursing program prerequisites.
