PSYCHOLOGY (B.A.)
School of Arts and Sciences

The B.A. program in psychology provides students with knowledge, skills, and values relating to the science and application of psychology, including major concepts, theories, findings, and research methods. Students gain an understanding of values and ethics within the field. They learn to use critical thinking and a scientific approach to psychological questions and problems, and to apply their learning to personal, social, and organizational issues. A liberal-arts orientation fosters skills in information technology and communication, an understanding of sociocultural and international diversity, personal development, and career planning.

Program Requirements
In addition to the University’s general education requirement, the B.A. program in psychology requires psychology coursework, general and career-oriented electives, and a senior project or practicum experience.

General Education Requirement
For the most part, you are free to fulfill the general education requirement with any option that fulfills the University-wide requirements (see the General Education Requirements chapter for details). Coursework for the humanities/fine arts requirement, however, must include 3 hours of Spanish.
