The nation's premier online DMS program!
Mountain State University’s exciting online DMS program offers B.S. and A.S. degrees as well as a certificate program. The online DMS program is offered nationwide and is designed to keep the student as close to home as possible. Clinical rotations are intended to be offered at a clinical setting (hospital/clinic) as close to the student’s geographical location as possible.

The online program is designed for students who are starting college for the first time, those who have completed some or all appropriate college credits, graduates of health sciences programs recognized by the American Medical Association, and registered, licensed, or certified medical professionals.

Why choose MSU?
MSU has found a way to offer the same quality education for online students that has been delivered to their traditional students since 1994.

Although the online program is relatively new, MSU has been successful at providing the healthcare community with highly qualified Sonographers that work across the nation.

MSU’s program offers students an education that provides them with a broad range of experience in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Upon successfully completing the requirements of the program, you will be eligible to apply to the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers for examinations in Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI), Abdomen, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Vascular, and Echocardiography.

Key Features
Regional Accreditation — The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association.
Affordable Tuition — Full-time financial aid availability and reasonable costs.
Faculty — Academic credentials and real-world experience.

How it works
Once all prerequisite courses have been completed or the student is enrolled in their last prerequisite course(s) the semester prior to the selection process; the student will enter into the selection pool for the next DMS start group. Selection criteria information can be found under the FAQ link.

After students are accepted into the DMS program, a clinical coordinator will be assigned to each new group of students to begin the clinical placement process. All communication with the hospital/clinics will be handled by the clinical coordinators in the DMS program. Students are not permitted to set up their own clinical sites. Each clinical affiliate will exceed the requirements set by the Joint Review Commission in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. In the event that the hospital/clinic does not exceed JRC-DMS requirements the student may need to travel to the nearest affiliate that meets the Standards and Guidelines.

Students are required to visit the Beckley, WV campus for a minimum of 3 days prior to entering the clinical setting. During the students time on campus they will receive one on one scanning time with their clinical coordinator in the DMS labs. This visit will be set up during the student’s second semester in the DMS program and after completing DMS 212, clinical lab online.
