Why choose General Engineering?
Students who choose General Engineering at MSU seek technologically advanced solutions to create a better, more efficient, place to live and grow. In a world of rapidly changing technology, engineers are in greater demand than ever, and job opportunities are abundant. Students who are imaginative, analytical, detail-oriented, and who possess skills in mathematics and science, may want to pursue engineering studies.
Why choose MSU?
Mountain State University boasts an incredible engineering faculty with international experience in the field of engineering, all of whom are certified Professional Engineers (P.E.). Our unique, mountainous terrain provides civil, environmental, and mining engineering students with the opportunity to study the difficulties faced in designing roads, bridges, mines, and other public infrastructures while challenging the forces of nature and protecting people from environmental disasters. Our small class size ensures students a strong interaction with instructors and peers, and allows students to foster relationships that will serve them throughout their engineering careers.
What can I study?
Our associate degree in general engineering provides background studies as well as an overview of engineering disciplines, allowing you to gauge your interests and aptitudes before settling on a specialization. It prepares you to complete a bachelor's degree in civil, electronical, or mechanical engineering. Students will develop a thorough knowledge of mathematics, the basic sciences, and physics, and will transition from engineering theory to practical, creative applications of their skills.
Career Opportunities
Engineers are responsible for the infrastructures that build our world. Students who want to design systems, components, or processes to meet the needs of upholding public safety, economy, efficiency, and the environment will find a host of career options in the field of engineering. From designing computers, to golf courses, to bridges, to helicopters, to roadways, engineers can choose careers that allow them to work independently, or select to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
