BACHELOR OF ARTS IN PSYCHOLOGYPsychology Photo
The B.A. program in psychology provides students with knowledge, skills, and values relating to the science and application of psychology, including major concepts, theories, findings, and research methods. Students gain an understanding of values and ethics within the field. They learn to use critical thinking and a scientific approach to psychological questions and problems, and to apply their learning to personal, social, and organizational issues. A liberal-arts orientation fosters skills in information technology and communication, an understanding of sociocultural and international diversity, personal development, and career planning.

Program Requirements
In addition to the University’s general education requirement, the B.A. program in psychology requires psychology coursework, general and career-oriented electives, and a senior project or practicum experience. Senior projects can be crafted to explore a broad vision of psychological education.

Electives
Electives must include 12 semester hours of career component electives, which are approved electives that relate to your background or career plans. Depending on your interests, your career component electives may include courses in such fields as criminal justice, forensic investigation, nursing, or social work. An additional 15 hours of electives are open to be filled as you choose.

Senior Project/Practicum Experience
You are required to complete 12 semester hours of credit from PSYC 461 Practicum, PSYC 466 Senior Project, or a combination of the two.
