Associate of Applied Science in the Psychology of Early Childhood Development
The A.A.S Psychology of Early Childhood Development degree is a rigorous program of study that emphasizes well established child rearing practices with emerging scientific theory. Upon completion of the MSU program students will be granted course credit for ACDS training(32 semester hours). The MSU program is designed to compliment the ACDS training while transitioning students into advanced early childhood curricula. Taught in a cohort format, one night a week, enables working individuals to obtain a degree with their peers.

Semester 1 (16 weeks)

COMM 204 Introduction to Speech Communication & PHIL 190 Ethics (all 16 weeks)
ENGL 101 Introduction to Composition I (1st 8 weeks)
ENGL 102 Introduction to Composition II (2nd 8 weeks)

Semester 2 (16 weeks)

IT 100 Introduction to Computers, IT 101 Introduction to Word Processing & IT 102 Introduction to Spreadsheets (all 16 weeks)
MATH 102 Beginning Algebra (all 16 weeks)
PSYC 201 Principles of Psychology (1st 8 weeks)
SOCI 201 Introduction to Sociology (2nd 8 weeks)

Semester 3 (16 weeks)

PSYC 202 ECD Perspectives, Issues and Fundamentals & PSYC 203 ECD Exceptionality (1st 8 weeks)
PSYC 204 ECD Survey of Holistic Development/Assessment & PSYC 205 ECD Innovation and Excellence (includes laboratory community experience at approved sites-15 hrs) (2nd 8 weeks)
