Local Physician Establishes MSU Scholarship Competition

Through a special gift received from Dr. Shrikant Bembalkar, a local physician, MSU is proud to offer our students an exceptional scholarship opportunity. The Bembalkar World Citizen Merit Scholarship program is designed to enhance understanding of our neighbors in a diverse world. It is intended to promote the free and civil exchange of ideas and views in an open and constructive manner. Dr. Bembalkar provides this scholarship in honor of his parents.

The scholarship opportunity is open to ALL MSU students, undergraduate, graduate, international, and distance.

The program provides an annual award of $1,000 to the MSU student who has the highest overall score in two areas of competition: 1) a written essay, and 2) participation in a presentation panel discussion. This year's competition topic is "Access to Education: The Ethics of Entry".

Students may obtain a full copy of the essay scenario and instructions by contacting Leigh Davis, dean of students and campus life, at 929-1434, or by seeing Sue Phillips in the library.

The deadline for submission of essays is February 14.
