School of Graduate Studies

M.A. in Psychology

Degree Requirements

The program consists of 48 credit hours, organized into six blocks (each one semester.) Most blocks have three courses. The basic division is a movement from concept to application.

In the first year, students complete a set of core requirements in the history of psychology, cognitive psychology, social psychology, professional ethics, research methods, and statistics, and then complete elective classes, during the second year.

After completing these core courses, students choose from a broad spectrum of electives, including physiological psychology, psychology of spirituality and religion, psychopathology and diagnosis, teaching psychology, advanced educational psychology, neuroscience, and forensic psychology. Research, a portfolio, and a thesis round out the second year of study.
