Mountain State University will grant up to a maximum of four semester hours of credit to an individual who presents evidence of one full year of successful military service. A Form DD214 should be submitted to the Registrar's Office for an evaluation of credit. The grade of "P" (pass) will be assigned on the student's MSU transcript for all military credit.
Other credit may be available for military service experience. Those who served in the Army on or after October 1, 1981 should request an Army/American Council on Education Registry Transcript. Forms for requesting the AARTS transcript are available from Student Services or by calling the AARTS Office at 913.684.3269. Students should contact Kim Keaton, Assistant Registrar at 929-1590 or kkeaton@mountainstate.edu for additional information or for evaluation of credit.
Service Members Opportunity Colleges
Mountain State University is one of more than 400 Colleges and universities designated as Service members Opportunity Colleges (SOC). As an SOC member, MSU recognizes the unique nature of the military lifestyle and is committed to facilitating the transfer of relevant course credits from appropriate military training. SOC has been developed jointly by educational representatives of each of the armed services, the office of the Secretary of Defense, and a consortium of thirteen leading higher education associations. It is sponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges.
Concurrent Admissions Program
The Concurrent Admissions Program (ConAP) is an initiative undertaken by the higher education community and the Army Recruiting Command. The goal of ConAP is to enable new soldiers to apply and gain acceptance to a ConAP university or other university of their choice concurrent with their enlistment in the Army. Army recruiters refer new soldiers to participating colleges and universities in the soldier's home area. Eligible soldiers are admitted on a full or provisional basis, with enrollment deferred until completion of initial enlistment for active military service, or in the case of Army Reserve, until completion of initial active duty for training.
