MSU has partnered with Tutor.com to provide free online tutoring sessions in the following subject areas:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social studies

Live Homework Help is available seven days a week from 6 PM to midnight, Eastern Time.  Online tutoring is available for fourth grade through college level and can be accessed at one of MSU’s campuses or from a home computer.  

Tutors can review specific homework questions, as well as subject-specific concepts using features such as controlled chat, an interactive white board, and shared Web browsing in the Online Classroom. Tutors and students can type math equations using a special math tool, share educational Web sites, and much more for a rewarding learning experience. All tutors are certified teachers, college professors, professional tutors, or graduate school students from across the country.

Your user name is your MountainaState.edu email username and the password is your email password. If accessing from home, your virus scan will need to be disabled temporarily. Instructions are provided on the Web site.

Peer Tutoring
The Tutoring Center provides peer tutors for MSU students at no charge in a variety of subjects during the fall and spring semesters.  Tutors meet with students for face-to-face tutoring sessions on the Beckley campus. 

Peer tutoring is available in the following subject areas:

  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Chemistry
  • English
  • Health Sciences
  • Mathematics

Students are asked to contact the Testing & Tutoring Center one day in advance to schedule a tutoring appointment.  However, walk-ins are accepted if a tutor is available.
