Two Rivers goalie Heimerl to attend Mountain State University in fall

John Denver took those West Virginia country roads home.
Two Rivers senior Michelle Heimerl will follow them to a soccer field.
Heimerl signed a letter of intent on Thursday to attend Mountain State University, an NAIA school located in Beckley, W.Va., to join the Cougars' soccer team next fall.

Quintero named new soccer coach at MSU

A former South American professional soccer player now aims to pass on some of the knowledge he’s gleaned to college-level performers.
And he’s going to do it in Beckley.
Cesar Quintero has been on the job for a little over a month as men’s soccer coach of the fourth-year program at Mountain State University, replacing John Birkelbach.
Quintero, 38, came to Beckley from northeast Florida, where he has mentored youth clubs and individual soccer players, as well as serving as a personal trainer. His career path also included a stint as boys coach for St. Augustine (Fla.) High School.
“I’ve been looking to return to coaching full-time,” he said recently. “I want to start training players who are a little older and a little more mature and looking to play.”...Read more.
Faber named MSU women’s soccer coach

Heather Faber is on the job.
The new Mountain State University women’s soccer coach has wasted little time in jumping on her No. 1 priority, recruiting.
“I’ve talked to a lot of kids, a lot of schools,” she said Monday as she began her second week on the job. “I’ve talked to pretty much every athletic director in the state, or it seems like it.”
Faber wants to expand the roster to, at minimum, 20 players.
“I’m looking for girls who want to help build a solid soccer program — girls who want to get out and play ball instead of sitting on the bench,” she said. ...Read more.
