Troy Beals scored a goal and assisted on another in the Cougars’ win.
Alex Cottle took a Beals past and ripped a shot from just outside the 18-yard line to put MSU ahead in the 5th minute.
Seventeen minutes later Charlot Nacius headed a pass acros the box and Beals finished for a 2-0 MSU lead.
Emory & Henry cut the lead in the 32nd minute on a Luke Lanier penalty kick.
Both teams had 5 shots on goal. MSU keeper Adam Thompson had three saves, including a 1-on-1 play late in the game.
“We put our chances away in the first 20 minutes,” coach John Birkelbach said. “Our defense played outstanding. We reduced them to long, hopeful balls over the top.”
It was the second consecutive victory for MSU (8-3-2), which plays at Bluefield College Wednesday.
