Head Softball Coach

Coach Berry is a gold level certified Amateur Softball Association softball coach and has been at Mountain State University since 1997 starting the MSU Lady Cougar Softball program. He has compiled a career coaching record of 216 wins and 235 losses since beginning the program at MSU. The Lady Cougars won the KIAC regular season in 2008 and are looking forward to the upcoming season under Coach Berry. He has been coaching softball in the Southern West Virginia area for the past twenty three years, serving as founder and president of the Beckley Babes A.S.A. organization and director of the Warren Williams Women's Fastpitch League since 2003. He lives in Beckley with his wife of thirty years, Mary, and two daughters Keri and Amber, who is the head volleyball and softball coach at the Academy at Mountain State University. He has a three year old grandson, Brayden in Beckley. Coach Berry is 49 years old and is retired from the Beckley City Police Department and served as City Councilman from 1994 - 2007. He currently serves as Chairman for the Public Defender Corporation in Beckley, having been appointed by Governor Bob Wise in 2003 and Governor Joe Manchin in 2007.
