Scholarships for High School Students

Mountain State University has developed scholarships specifically for high school seniors. Students must apply by March 1st and begin classes at the MSU-Beckley campus in the fall semester following their high school graduation.

Promise Scholarship

Mountain State University participates in the West Virginia PROMISE (Providing Real Opportunities for Maximizing In-state Student Excellence) Scholarship Program. The PROMISE Scholarship is available to students who graduate from West Virginia schools with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in core classes and a competitive ACT or SAT score. Matching Scholarships

MSU matches up to $250 per semester for selected civic and organizational scholarships. Contact the Financial Aid Office for a list of eligible scholarships.

The University will match any scholarship awarded by the Ruritan National Foundation for students attending MSU. Application for these scholarships is made through Ruritan.

Rewards-Based Scholarships

MSU also awards scholarships at select conferences and competitions for DECA, FBLA, HOSA, and ProStart.

Need-Based Scholarships

Mountain State University offers a variety of need-based and donor specified criteria scholarships through our Advancement office.
