BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (B.S.)

School of Business and Technology
Finance Concentration

Every firm, government agency, and organization has one or more financial managers who oversee the preparation of financial reports, direct investment activities, and implement cash management strategies. With the increasing power of computers to provide financial forecasting, many financial managers spend more of their time quantifying strategies and implementing the long-term goals of their organization. Your degree in Business Administration will provide the knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed as a business professional.

Curriculum
MSU's program structure helps you earn your degree program quickly and conveniently. During each 16-week semester, you complete a sequence of two classes every eight weeks. This approach qualifies you as a full-time student for financial aid purposes while still allowing you to focus your studies and manage your time without juggling assignments and projects from multiple classes. Most online students spend 10 to 20 hours a week on their studies.

In addition to Business Core Courses, students with a concentration in Finance are required to take:

  • ACCT 330 Intermediate Accounting I 3
  • ACCT 345 Fraud Examination 3
  • CIS 325 Management Info Systems 3
  • FIN 320 Advanced Finance 3
  • FIN 400 Problems in Corp Finance 3
  • FIN 410 Financial Institutions 3
  • FIN 425 Practicum 15
  • FIN 430 Investments 3
  • LGLS 310 Legal Envir of Business 3
  • MGMT 440 Leadership 3

Admissions
Mountain State University requires applicants to have a high school diploma or a General Education Development (GED) certificate. Transfer students from other regionally accredited colleges and universities are required to submit transcripts from each school attended. International students must communicate with the University's coordinator for international student services.

Financial Aid
As a full-time student, you can apply for federal, state and private financial aid. Additionally, MSU accepts employer tuition assistance and military benefits. More than 80% of our undergraduate students in 2005-2006 received some form of aid.

Online Learning
Courses are completed in eight week sessions. Normally two courses are completed in each session allowing you to complete your degree in a relatively short time frame. Our convenient online format allows you to access course information, communicate with your instructor and other students, and complete and submit assignments from the comfort of your own home. MSU's programs have no on-campus residency requirement. All of our online programs are specifically designed to allow busy working professionals the opportunity to earn their degree without interrupting their professional and personal commitments.
